About Milford Electrician

Our electricians have been working across Auckland since 2009, and we are New Zealand owned and operated. We look after homes and businesses, and Milford has plenty of both: 1920s bungalows, holiday baches that became family homes, the group-built houses that went up after the Harbour Bridge opened in 1959, apartment buildings such as the Circle, and the shops around the Milford Centre. Each era was wired differently, so on any job the first thing we do is find out what is behind the walls before we change it.

Need an electrician in Milford?

Call 021 156 4005 at any hour, or send us the details of the job and we will get back to you.

Why choose Milford Electrician

An electrical fault does not keep office hours. Our electricians take call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so a dead circuit on a Sunday night or a breaker that trips in the middle of a storm does not have to wait until Monday. The same number, 021 156 4005, reaches us at any hour, whether the job is an emergency or a switchboard you want to plan for next month.

We are registered electricians, and completed prescribed electrical work is tested and comes with the certification that applies to it. WorkSafe's guide to getting electrical work done suggests asking any electrical worker to show their practising licence and checking its expiry date, and notes that a Certificate of Compliance must be issued for fixed wiring work such as a new power point. Those are fair questions to ask us, and anyone else.

Questions about electrical work in Milford

Do you take call-outs at night and at weekends?

Yes. Our electricians are available for call-outs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you call 021 156 4005, tell us which lights and sockets are off, whether anything is hot, sparking or smells of burning, and whether the rest of the street still has power. Our emergency electrician page covers what to do while you wait.

Where is Milford Electrician based?

In Auckland, not in Milford itself. We serve Milford and the suburbs around it, and our electricians cover the whole of Auckland, including the rest of the North Shore. We say "serving Milford" because that is exactly what we do. You can reach us on 021 156 4005 or through our contact page.

Do you work in apartment buildings?

Yes, inside the apartments and in the shared parts of the building. The switchboard, meter room or cable route a job needs may sit outside your own unit, so it helps to have the building manager's or body corporate's contact details when you book. Our page on commercial and apartment building work explains how that runs.

Will I get a certificate for the work?

For prescribed electrical work, yes: completed work is tested and you receive the certification that applies, usually a Certificate of Compliance and, where needed, an Electrical Safety Certificate. Keep them with your house papers, because they can matter for insurance and when you sell. Some jobs, such as a switchboard upgrade to a higher capacity, must also be inspected, and we can arrange a licensed electrical inspector.

Does an older Milford house need rewiring?

Not just because of its age. What matters is what the wiring is made of and how it has been treated. BRANZ guidance says rubber-sheathed cable in metal conduit is likely to be unsafe and should be replaced, and early plastic-sheathed cable may also have deteriorated. A look at the switchboard and some testing will tell you which you have, and our house rewiring page explains the options.
